DUCK AND COVER 2ND AMENDMENT PROTECTION

DUCK AND COVER: WE NEED TO PROTECT THE 2nd AMENDMENT (Comments on the recent gun violence)

I grew up with duck and cover starting with the Cuban Missile Crisis. We had to duck and cover if the Soviets launched Nuclear Missiles from Cuba or a lurking Submarine launching pad off one of our two coasts.

The answer to the cause of duck and cover then should be the answer to the need to teach duck and cover today.

Escalate the arms and let an armed citizenry be the deterrent only it can be against criminals. That was our nations answer to the Soviet aggression albeit militarily.

Columbine was a gun free zone. Aurora Colorado’s Theatre was a gun free zone. Florida’s Stoneman Douglas High massacre of 17 and additional wounding of 17 was in a gun free zone.

Notice how mass shootings do not occur in gun allowed zones.

I believe it was an armed citizen who took out the gunman at the church in Texas that had proudly advertised that they were a gun free zone. 26 dead and 20 wounded.

A plumber heard the shots and ran outside barefoot where he engaged the shooter after taking a rifle out of his truck and shot the deranged active shooter twice. He also chased the man’s automobile until he bled out and was neutralized by death.

It was a Black racist who took up arms to hunt down white police officers in Dallas Texas in 2016. The racist gunman killed 5 officers and wounded 9 others.

A radicalized American citizen opened fire in a gun free zone at the Fort Hood Texas army base. Nidal killed 14 and wounded 32 others before being shot by a police officer who was also one of the victims of the gunman, being shot during the exchange of gunfire that left Nidal crippled from the waist down.

It’s the same in Chicago, the ongoing scene of mass shootings. Guns are almost outlawed in Chicago, which has created a scenario where the outlaws have the guns instead of the citizens. The result was 59 shot this past weekend, 7 fatally. That’s one weekend out of the recurring mass shootings year in and year out.

Had the Gilroy shooter not been aware that he could evade security and sneak his weapons in, the outcome could have been different.

Had Walmart not caved to pressure from the left side of politics and still sold weapons and ammo that could be accessed and used to fight fire with fire as in assault rifles or at least employed armed security, surely more lives could have been saved.

In the El Paso case, the White Supremist gunman reportedly bypassed a closer Walmart location as it allowed people to carry on site. The El Paso Walmart advertises they are a gun free zone.

There has yet to be a school shooting on a campus that allows armed security and armed employees.

As tragic as the Dayton Ohio shooting was, the leftist, Elizabeth Warren supporting, ANIFA applauding, gun control advocate and socialist gunman was neutralized within 30 seconds by armed police.

Mass shooters have a few things in common. They are deluded. They are seeking attention. They have mental issues. The exception to the commonality theme is the criminal element in major cities like Chicago.

The Constitutional key to preventing mass shootings is not restricting access to guns and hoping that the criminal, the deranged, the terrorist or the mentally unfit do not evade the law and access arms. The Constitutional key is for more citizens to be allowed to legally carry arms and help suppress those who would do harm.

WHY THE 2nd AMENDMENT IS STILL RELEVANT (modified from an article I read)

Comparing the American culture of today with American culture of 200 plus years ago brings some surprising truths to the surface. there were some things that were true. We see that 200 years ago:

  1. Human predation by animals was a part of life
  2. Human predation by other humans was also a part of our life experience
  3. Government’s sought to do what governments always do, seek out increased control and power over its citizens. This is the nature of human governance
  4. There were whole classes of people who used weapons to access food, with guns being a major source of food procurement

Today, things have changed, somewhat, staying the same in other ways.

  5. In the 20th century, governments of humans killed in excess of 250,000,000 citizens of their own nations. This figure excludes lives that were lost during military conflict.

We need to protect the 2nd Amendment!
